There are days when five seats simply are not enough. The 2027 Chevrolet Traverse is built for those days. It gives families three rows, room for up to eight people and enough cargo space for everything that seems to come along with them. At the same time, it still feels modern and easy to use. For 2027, Chevrolet also adds a new High Country trim, giving shoppers another way to make the Traverse their own.

The Turbo Engine Does Not Struggle With a Full House

The Turbo Engine Does Not Struggle With a Full House

Every 2027 Traverse uses a 2.5 litre turbocharged engine that produces 328 horsepower and 326 lb ft of torque. It works with an eight speed automatic transmission. The Canadian LT also comes with all wheel drive, while the Z71 adds a more advanced twin clutch AWD system for extra capability.
Fuel consumption with AWD is rated at 12.1 L/100 km in the city and 9.9 L/100 km on the highway. That gives the Traverse a useful mix of family SUV size and everyday performance. Regular 87 octane gasoline is all it requires.

Pack the Bags and Then Pack a Little More

Space is one of the biggest reasons to look at a Traverse. Maximum cargo capacity reaches 2,764 litres with the rear seats folded. There is still 1,603 litres behind the second row and 649 litres behind the third row. That means you do not have to fold seats every time groceries, school bags or weekend gear come along.
LT seats seven as standard and can be configured for up to eight with an available second row bench. Z71, RS and High Country seat seven. Smart Slide Seats make access to the back easier, while the AutoSense Power Liftgate can open without making you search for a button when your hands are full.

Z71 Is the One That Likes the Rougher Route

The Z71 brings a different personality to the Traverse. It comes with an advanced twin clutch AWD system, Terrain Mode and Hill Descent Control. Chevrolet also gives it an off road suspension, skid plate and 18 inch High Gloss Black machined face wheels with all terrain tires.
Frequency based suspension dampers help keep the ride composed when the surface gets rough. That setup can make sense for families who regularly leave the smooth city roads behind for beaches, campsites and outdoor destinations around Vancouver Island.

Towing Is Not an Afterthought

Every 2027 Traverse includes trailering equipment and has a standard towing capacity of up to 2,268 kg. That is enough capability for many small campers, recreational trailers and other weekend gear when properly set up.
Chevrolet also includes Hitch View, Hitch Guidance and a Trailering App as standard. Those features make the practical side of towing feel less intimidating, especially if you do not attach a trailer every day.

The Biggest Screen Is Not Reserved for the Expensive Trim

One of the nicest things about the Traverse cabin is that the main technology does not require you to move straight to the top model. A 17.7 inch touchscreen comes standard on LT. It gives the dashboard a clean modern look while keeping everyday controls easy to reach.
Wireless smartphone connectivity is available across the lineup, while Google built in compatibility is also offered. Full Google built in functionality may require subscriptions. The system brings familiar services into the vehicle so navigation and connected features feel more natural to use.

Super Cruise Makes the Long Road Feel Different

Available Super Cruise adds hands free driver assistance on compatible roads. A three year OnStar One plan is included when equipped. The system is standard on the RS and the new High Country trim. Driver attention is still required while using it.
RS also brings a sportier appearance with black exterior details, a flat bottom steering wheel, red interior accents and 22 inch High Gloss Black painted aluminum wheels. One Touch Fold second row seats and a power folding third row add extra convenience when you need to switch quickly from passengers to cargo.

High Country Gives 2027 Something New

The biggest lineup change this year is the arrival of High Country. The 2026 Canadian Traverse was offered in LT, Z71 and RS trims. For 2027, High Country becomes the fourth choice and takes the SUV in a more premium direction.
Inside, it adds real wood trim accents and microfibre suede details. Tritan Satin chrome appears around the grille and headlamp surrounds, while redesigned High Country badging helps distinguish it outside. Standard 22 inch High Gloss Black machined face wheels complete the look.
It is a useful addition because not every family looking for three rows wants an off road look or the darker styling of the RS. High Country gives the Traverse a more refined option without giving up its practical side.

More Than 20 Helpers Are Watching the Road Too

Every 2027 Traverse comes with more than 20 standard safety and driver assistance features. Chevrolet highlights technologies such as Front Pedestrian and Bicycle Braking, Blind Zone Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking and Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking.
The Safety Alert Seat can also use seat vibrations to help warn the driver about the direction of a potential hazard. Other standard technologies include Rear Park Assist, HD Rear Vision Camera, Reverse Automatic Braking, Teen Driver and seat belt reminders for all three rows. These systems support the driver, but they do not replace careful attention to traffic and road conditions.

What Really Changed From 2026?

The 2027 Traverse does not throw away the formula that worked last year. The 328 horsepower 2.5 litre turbo engine continues, along with the 17.7 inch touchscreen, available Super Cruise, three row seating and 2,764 litres of maximum cargo room.
The notable difference is choice. High Country joins the existing LT, Z71 and RS models for 2027. It brings more premium cabin materials and its own exterior details while keeping the same family friendly capability underneath. For shoppers who liked the Traverse but wanted a more upscale version, that fills an obvious gap in the lineup.
